Low Power Design


Low power consumption has always been an important part of the design philosophy for Infinera’s products and solutions, and in metro networks it is especially essential.

In metro networks, and particularly metro access networks, power and space are typically scarce resources, and network upgrades or expansion must often be made in existing facilities using existing power. Infinera’s XTM Series, and especially the XTM II cloud scale metro platform, is built specifically to address this challenge.

The XTM II cloud scale metro platform delivers what we believe is the industry’s lowest power consumption per gigabit, 20 watts (W) per 100 gigabits per second (Gb/s) , as well as providing an eightfold increase in density over the previous generation of technology. These capabilities make XTM II the platform of choice for power- and space-constrained high-capacity metro deployments.
