Tom Fallon has served as our CEO since January 2010 and a member of our Board of Directors since July 2009. Mr. Fallon also served as our President from January 2010 to June 2013, and as our Chief Operating Officer from October 2006 to December 2009. From April 2004 to September 2006, Mr. Fallon served as our Vice President of Engineering and Operations. From August 2003 to March 2004, Mr. Fallon was Vice President, Corporate Quality and Development Operations at Cisco. From March 1991 to August 2003, Mr. Fallon served in a variety of functions at Cisco, including General Manager of the Optical Transport Business Unit and Vice President of Service Provider Manufacturing. Prior to joining Cisco, Mr. Fallon also served in various manufacturing roles at Sun Microsystems and Hewlett Packard. Mr. Fallon currently serves on the boards of directors of Hercules Capital, Inc., a specialty finance company, and the Engineering Advisory Board of the Cockrell School at the University of Texas. Mr. Fallon holds B.S.M.E. and M.B.A. degrees from the University of Texas at Austin.
Dave Welch, Ph.D.
Dave Welch co-founded our company and has served as our President since June 2013 and a member of our Board of Directors since October 2010. From May 2004 to June 2013, he served as our Executive Vice President and Chief Strategy Officer. From May 2001 to May 2004, he served as our Chief Development Officer/Chief Technology Officer. From May 2001 to November 2006, he also served as a member of our Board of Directors. From February 2001 to April 2001, he served as Chief Technology Officer of the Transmission Division of JDS Uniphase Corporation, an optical component company. From January 1985 to February 2001, he served in various executive roles, including Chief Technology Officer and Vice President of Corporate Development of SDL, an optical component company. Dr. Welch currently serves on the board of directors of AntriaBio, Inc., a biopharmaceutical company. Dr. Welch holds over 130 patents, and has been awarded the Optical Society of America’s ("OSA") Adolph Lomb Medal, Joseph Fraunhofer Award, the John Tyndall Award and the IET JJ Thompson Medal for Achievement in Electronics, in recognition of his technical contributions to the optical industry. He is a Fellow of OSA and the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers. Dr. Welch holds a B.S. in Electrical Engineering from the University of Delaware and a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from Cornell University.
Brad Feller was appointed Chief Financial Officer of Infinera in March 2014. Prior to joining Infinera, Mr. Feller served as Interim CFO of Marvell Technology Group (Marvell), a semiconductor company, from October 2012 to December 2013 and as Vice President, Corporate Controller of Marvell from September 2008 to October 2012. Prior to Marvell, Mr. Feller served as Corporate Controller for Integrated Device Technology (IDT) from April 2005 to September 2008 and Financial Reporting Manager from October 2003 to April 2005. Prior to joining IDT, Mr. Feller served in various roles at Ernst & Young LLP in the technology practice serving large multinational clients including Intel, Juniper Networks and Oracle. Mr. Feller is a certified public accountant (inactive) in the State of California and holds a B.S. degree in Business Administration from San Jose State University.
Prior to joining Infinera in May 2013, Robert Jandro served as Vice President of Business Development of Openwater Software, Inc., a big data and analytics cloud company, and Chief Executive Officer and President of Nsite Software, Inc., an early cloud company acquired by Business Objects. Before joining Nsite, Mr. Jandro served as the Executive Vice President of Global Sales and Services for ONI Systems, where he participated as a member of the Executive Staff in raising $1 billion in capital through an Initial Public Offering in 2000 and follow on offerings. Mr. Jandro worked at Oracle from 1996 to 2000 where he last served as the Group Vice President of Oracle's Communications and Utilities Industries. He has also held several other sales and marketing management positions. Mr. Jandro earned a Masters of Management degree from Northwestern University's Kellogg Graduate School of Management and a B.S. in Business from the University of Missouri-St. Louis.
Senior Vice President, General Counsel and Corporate Secretary
James Laufman joined Infinera as Senior Vice President, General Counsel and Corporate Secretary in October 2014. Most recently, Mr. Laufman served as Vice President and General Counsel of Marvell Semiconductor, Inc., a fabless semiconductor company, which he joined in 2008. Prior to that, Mr. Laufman served as Vice President, General Counsel and Secretary of Integrated Device Technology, Inc., a semiconductor company, from 1999 to 2008. Prior to that, he served as Vice President and General Counsel of Rohm Corporation from 1994 to 1998. Mr. Laufman worked as an Associate Attorney at the Berliner Cohen and Popelka Allard law firms specializing in the litigation and resolution of commercial transaction matters. Mr. Laufman holds a B.S. degree in Business Administration, Finance (cum laude) from California State University, Chico and a J.D. degree from Santa Clara University School of Law
Senior Vice President, Strategic Sales
Scott Chandler is Senior Vice President, Strategic Sales at Infinera. Mr. Chandler served as Vice President, Worldwide Sales for Infinera from 2004 to 2009. Before joining Infinera in 2003, he served as Vice President of Strategic Markets at Sonus Networks, where he was responsible for the successful launch into Wireless, Cable, RBOC and CLEC accounts. From 1993 to 1999, Mr. Chandler was at Cisco Systems where he held sales and sales management positions focused on the enterprise and service provider market. Prior to Cisco, Mr. Chandler was a Regional Sales Manager for Cabletron Systems. Mr. Chandler earned his B.S. in Business Administration from Plymouth State College and has 20 years of telecommunication systems sales experience.
Stuart Elby, Ph.D.
Senior Vice President, Cloud Network Strategy and Technology
Dr. Stuart Elby is Senior Vice President, Data Center Business Group at Infinera, where he is responsible for data center networking product management and platform development targeted at cloud and data center operators. Prior to Infinera, Dr. Elby served as VP and Chief Technologist of Verizon Labs and Verizon Digital Media Service. During his tenure at Verizon, he had significant influence in the architecture and development of Verizon's networks and services platforms including the migration to packet voice, the adoption of MPLS, introduction of wavelength switching/ROADM platforms, the first live carrier 100G LH link, and automated digital media distribution services. Previously, he served as a research associate at the NSF Center for Telecommunications Research at Columbia University, lead technologist at a laser surgery start-up and staff engineer at StorageTek. He serves on several university and industry advisory boards. Dr. Elby holds a B.S. in Optical Engineering from the University of Rochester and an M.S.E.E. and Doctorate from Columbia University. .
David Heard joined Infinera in June 2017 to lead our Products and Solutions team. Mr. Heard brings a proven track record of success in the technology industry, having served in several positions of leadership. Prior to joining Infinera, Mr. Heard served as President of Network and Service Enablement at JDS Uniphase from 2010 to 2015. From 2007 to 2010, Mr. Heard served as Chief Operating Officer at BigBand Networks (now part of Arris). From 2004 to 2006, Mr. Heard served as President and Chief Executive Officer at Somera (now part of Jabil). From 2003 to 2004, Mr. Heard served as President and General Manager Switching Division at Tekelec (now part of Oracle). From 1995 to 2003, Mr. Heard served in a number of leadership roles at Santera Systems Spatial Networks and at Lucent Technologies (both now part of Nokia). Mr. Heard holds a B.A. in Production and Operations Management from Ohio State University, an M.B.A. from the University of Dayton and an M.S. in Management from Stanford Graduate School of Business, where he was a Sloan Fellow. He currently serves as the Chairman of the Telecommunications Industry Association.
Senior Vice President, Head of Engineering
Srikanth (Sri) Hosakote joined Infinera in February 2016, bringing over 24 years of business, technology, and management experience. As Senior Vice President, Head of Engineering, Mr. Hosakote heads the Infinera Systems Engineering organization, utilizing his expertise in organization management and proven leadership advancing engineering organizations spanning high end routing, optical transport and cloud networking and storage solutions. Prior to joining Infinera, Mr. Hosakote was Executive Vice President and General Manager, Cloud Systems & Solutions at Seagate. Prior to joining Seagate, Mr. Hosakote served in various leadership roles at Cisco, including most recently Senior Vice President and General Manager, Data Center Group; Vice President and General Manager, High End Routing & Optical Group; and Vice President and General Manager, Edge Routing Business Unit. Mr. Hosakote earned a M.S. in Computer Science from the University of Missouri, Kansas City, and holds an M.B.A. in Technology Management from the University of Phoenix.
Senior Vice President, Head of Architecture
Parthiban Kandappan serves as our Senior Vice President, Head of Architecture, rejoining Infinera in January 2014 and bringing with him nearly 30 years of computing and communications technology and management experience. Between 2011 and 2013, Mr. Kandappan served as the General Manager of the Transport Business Unit of Applied Micro. Prior to joining Applied Micro, Mr. Kandappan served at Infinera for nearly a decade in a variety of technology leadership roles, including Vice President, Advanced Systems Design and Vice President, Systems Engineering. Before joining Infinera in July 2002, Mr. Kandappan held leadership roles including Vice President, Hardware Engineering at Zaffire Inc. (acquired by Centerpoint), Switch Architect and founding member at Berkeley Networks (acquired by Fore Systems), as well as senior engineering roles at 3Com and Digital Equipment Corporation. Mr. Kandappan earned a M.S.E.E. from Virginia Tech, where he also completed part of the Ph.D. program, and a B.E. with Honors from University of Madras, India. He has seven issued patents with others filed.
Fred Kish, Ph.D.
Senior Vice President, Optical Integrated Circuit Group
Fred Kish serves as our Senior Vice President responsible for our Optical Integrated Component Group (inclusive of both PIC chips and Modules). Prior to this role, he served as our Vice President, PIC Development and Manufacturing since May 2001. From November 1999 to May 2001, Dr. Kish served as R&D and Manufacturing Development Functional Manager for the Fiber Optics Communications Division of Agilent Technologies, Inc., a measurement and technology company for communications, electronics, life sciences and chemical analysis. Dr. Kish holds B.S., M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in electrical engineering from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
Senior Vice President, Global Systems Manufacturing and Supply Chain
Minoo Mortazavi has served as Senior Vice President of Systems Manufacturing and Strategic Materials/Programs since September 2010. From June 2007, she served as Infinera's Vice President of Strategic Materials. Ms. Mortazavi joined Infinera to support the strategic focus of building an optimized supply chain that supports scaling efficiency, lowering costs, and creating even greater flexibility through the value chain. Before joining Infinera, Ms. Mortazavi was VP of Global Materials at JDS Uniphase. Prior to that, she was at Solectron. She received her B.S. in Business Administration and M.B.A. from CSULB and her degree in Contracts Management from UCLA.
Senior Vice President, Worldwide Customer Service and Technical Support
Lonny Orona serves as the Senior Vice President of Worldwide Customer Service and Technical Support for Infinera. Over the past 15 years, Mr. Orona has held senior management positions with responsibility for Technical Operations, Customer and Product Support, 24x7 Network Operations, Service Provisioning, EF&I Operations, Logistics and Technical Training. Mr. Orona's experience in service delivery comes from providing support for both service provider and large enterprise customers. Prior to Infinera, Mr. Orona has served in executive service and support roles with companies including Unlimited Fiber Optics, Sigma Networks, Ciena Corporation, Lightera Networks, 3Com, OnStream Networks, MFS Communications, and British Telecom.
Karl Thedéen, joined Infinera in August 2015 as part of the company’s acquisition of Transmode. Prior to joining Infinera, Mr. Thedéen served as Chief Executive Officer at Transmode from 2007 to 2015. From 2002 to 2007, Mr. Thedéen served in various senior management positions within Ericsson, including a Board of Directors’ position with Network Technologies AB from 2004 to 2007, Vice President of the Wireline Product Area for Ericsson AB from 2004 to 2006 and Account Executive for the TeliaSonera account from 2002 to 2004. Prior to this, Mr. Thedéen held other positions within Ericsson including a period in the UK from 1995 to 1996 as an Account Manager on the Ericsson BT account team. Mr. Thedéen holds a M.S. degree in Systems Engineering from KTH, the Royal Institute of Technology, Stockholm, and serves as a Board member of Kabona AB and HMS Networks AB.
Ashoka Valia joined Infinera in September 2010 and is responsible for developing growth opportunities including the strategy and execution of mergers and acquisitions, investments, alliances and partnerships. In addition, he leads Infinera’s Technical Marketing and Business Operations functions. Prior to joining Infinera, Mr. Valia held a broad range of senior leadership roles in Marketing, Sales, Strategy, Product Line Management and Operations including Vice- President, Global Market Development for Nortel’s Carrier VoIP and Applications business, where he had global go-to-market responsibilities resulting in strong market share growth and substantially increased profitability. Previous assignments include: Vice President, Corporate Development and Managing Director – Nortel India, where he was responsible for the P&L of the Indian operations, including carrier and enterprise sales, resulting in a ten-fold growth of the business. Mr. Valia has an M.B.A. from Concordia University’s John Molson School of Business in Montreal, and a B.Com (Finance) from Carleton University in Ottawa.
Sonja Wilkerson joined Infinera as Sr. Vice President, Head of Human Resources, in November 2016. Ms. Wilkerson brings over 25 years of HR leadership experience to Infinera, including the successful development talent strategies that drive organizational effectiveness through the integration of people, technologies, processes and cultures. Most recently, Ms. Wilkerson served as Vice President of Human Resources with Hewlett Packard Enterprise for over two years, where she was responsible for providing strategic HR support to the Global Finance and Legal organizations. She joined Hewlett Packard Enterprise from Cisco, where she worked as a Director of Human Resources for over 10 years, supporting various functions ranging from Marketing to Cisco’s core engineering global product groups, including Service Provider, Server, Storage, Switching, Routing, Software, Hardware, and CTO. Prior to Cisco, Ms. Wilkerson held various HR positions for a number of Silicon Valley technology companies. She holds a B.S. in Organizational Behavior, a M.B.A. from the University of San Francisco, and a M.S. in Technology Management from Pepperdine University.
