Aloha! Infinera’s Talking About Transforming Subsea Networks at PTC’18 in Hawaii
Exciting news! Infinera set a huge industry benchmark for subsea capacity-reach last quarter on the Seabras-1 cable with our latest subsea platform Infinera XTS-3300. As we gear up this week to celebrate PTC’s 40th anniversary in Honolulu, our team looks forward to sharing how Infinera’s unique optical technology and products are transforming subsea networks, enabling cable operators to scale capacity instantly and economically.
If you missed it, Seaborn, a leading developer-owner-operator of submarine cable systems, recently deployed the XTS-3300. Infinera’s XTS-3300 enabled Seaborn to rapidly offer cloud connectivity services on Seabras-1, the only submarine cable system with a direct connection between São Paulo, Brazil and New York City. Seaborn used this connectivity to offer SeaSpeed™, its proprietary lowest-latency route between these key global financial centers.
That’s not all. In our recent field trial with Seaborn, Infinera demonstrated an industry first – delivering the highest spectral efficiency on an ultra-long-haul subsea cable. The 8QAM (quadrature amplitude modulation) trial demonstrated 4.5 bits per second per hertz on the Seabras-1 cable with a distance of more than 10,500 kilometers, enabling up to 50 percent more capacity than systems without advanced coherent technologies such as Nyquist sub-carriers and soft decision forward error correction (SD-FEC) gainsharing. This trial raised the bar for optical performance by delivering the industry’s highest spectral efficiency in a commercially shipping product.
Network operators like Seaborn are realizing the benefits of the XTS-3300 based on the Infinera Infinite Capacity Engine 4, delivering a reliable, compact, high-performance subsea platform.
Attending PTC’18? We are too! Abhijit Chitambar, one of Infinera’s lead principal product and technology managers, will present at the conference New Technologies for Data Transport on Tuesday, January 23, at 8:30 a.m. – you don’t want to miss that!
Infinera’s meeting rooms are in the Rainbow Tower at Hilton Hawaiian Village and are open Monday, January 22, through Wednesday, January 24. Click here to schedule a time to meet with a member of our subsea expert team.
