Overview
Infinera combines Photonic Integration with our unique Bandwidth Virtualization technology to create the Digital Optical Network. A Digital Optical Network redefines optical transport by providing the capacity of WDM with the traffic management flexibility and engineering simplicity of digital transport systems; and the network cost savings of large-scale photonic integration. This provides flexible access to the underlying digital data at any node, for the purpose of add/drop, bandwidth management, performance monitoring, or other value-added manipulation. An Infinera Digital Optical Network comprises the following key elements:
- ATN: purpose-built metro edge platform that extends Infinera benefits to the metro network. More...
- Infinera Line System: extends optical reach and capacity between DTN nodes, with 40-wavelength, 80-wavelength and 160-wavelength DWDM line-side capacity options. More on Infinera line systems.
- DTN Digital ROADM: combines scalable DWDM capacity with sub-wavelength transparent 2.5G (ODU1) digital switching that allows reconfigurable add/drop of multiple services from 155Mb/s to 40Gb/s. More...
- IQ Network Operating System: provides real-time network intelligence and control of all network elements to facilitate automated end-end topology discovery, service provisioning, and service management and protection based on a GMPLS control plane. More...
- Infinera Management Suite: consists of the Digital Network Administrator (DNA) Element Management System, Graphical Node Manager (GNM) and Network Planning System (NPS). DNA enables end-end network management and control with a complete suite of FCAPS functions. The Infinera Management Suite also includes a suite of integration functions for third party umbrella management systems. More...
